Description of problem:

Occasional random NullPointerExceptions while running various Java applications.

Additional info:

Bug is already acknowledged and fixed upstream.  The patch is here:

For safety, we could surround this patch with 

#ifdef AARCH64

I will take it once it is acked. 
Please note that Z-stream clone will need tobe approved afterwards.

Ah, so this is not in AArch64 code.

Has this been proposed for 8u?
