.Collection splitting can be now done offline
This update adds the `apply-layout-settings` command to the `ceph-objectstore-tool` utility. The new command enables users to perform collection splitting offline on OSD nodes in cases when doing it online would cause too large an impact.

Not yet implemented upstream, re-targeting to 1.3.4 From discussion in the clone bz 1367442, the appropriate upstream tracker here is actually http://tracker.ceph.com/issues/17220 . Still need to know if we should leave this BZ open for RHCS 1.3 or not. (In reply to Ken Dreyer (Red Hat) from comment #5) > From discussion in the clone bz 1367442, the appropriate upstream tracker > here is actually http://tracker.ceph.com/issues/17220 . > > Still need to know if we should leave this BZ open for RHCS 1.3 or not. Yes I think we should. As we have seen customer issues in 1.3. and in upstream it is getting backported to hammer with ticket: http://tracker.ceph.com/issues/17383 This can be tested by running a subset of the rados:thrash suite, since https://github.com/ceph/ceph-qa-suite/pull/1192 exercises it. Verified in 0.94.9-7.el7cp http://pulpito.ceph.redhat.com/vasu-2016-11-28_14:28:28-rados:thrash-hammer---basic-multi/ Since the problem described in this bug report should be resolved in a recent advisory, it has been closed with a resolution of ERRATA.
