Description michal.simon 2016-08-18 09:18:29 UTC
Description of problem:

The ceph Firefly LTS (currently in epel 7) life time came to an end together with the release of LTS Jewell (according to the project release policies http://docs.ceph.com/docs/master/releases/) and hence should be retired. We would like to make a friendly request for a new release that updates the EPEL7 ceph package at least to the next LTS (Hammer).

This is needed by the XRootD project (low-latency file access framework used notably at CERN).

Hi,

I'm sorry but it is unlikely that we will touch this. The ceph packages in epel were pretty much deprecated when the client bits made it into the RHEL 7.2 release and we kept them around mostly for backwards compatibility.

Please consider using one of the upstream repositories if you want to use hammer instead:

http://download.ceph.com/rpm-hammer/el7/

or

http://gitbuilder.ceph.com/ceph-rpm-centos7-x86_64-basic/ref/hammer/

btw: If it is the hammer client bits that you want then these will be available in RHEL 7.3.
