Description Sudhir Menon 2016-08-19 09:05:54 UTC
Description of problem: Include sssd service status in ipactl command

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
ipa-server-4.4.0-8.el7.x86_64

How reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
On a IPA server, sssd service plays an important role of looking up users, caching them i.e either IPA users or AD trusted users

So can't we have sssd service status displayed on 'ipactl status' which will be easier at one go, rather that checking 'systemctl status sssd.service' everytime on IPA server.

Actual results: Currently ipactl status only shows the below service
[root@ipaserver ~]# ipactl status
Directory Service: RUNNING
krb5kdc Service: RUNNING
kadmin Service: RUNNING
named Service: RUNNING
ipa_memcached Service: RUNNING
httpd Service: RUNNING
ipa-custodia Service: RUNNING
ntpd Service: RUNNING
pki-tomcatd Service: RUNNING
ipa-otpd Service: RUNNING
ipa-dnskeysyncd Service: RUNNING

Expected results: Include something like the one below in ipactl status command output.

sssd Service: RUNNING (when service is running)
sssd Service: STOPPED (when service is not running)

Additional info: This can go as a enhancement bug for ipactl status command.

Thank you taking your time and submitting this request for Red Hat Enterprise Linux. The request was cloned to the upstream tracker a long time ago (see link to the upstream ticket above), but it was unfortunately not given priority either in the upstream project, nor in Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Given that this request is not planned for a close release, it is highly unlikely it will be fixed in this major version of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. We are therefore closing the request as WONTFIX.

To request that Red Hat reconsiders the decision, please reopen the Bugzilla with the help of Red Hat Customer Service and provide additional business and/or technical details about it's importance to you. Please note that you can still track this request or even offer help in the referred upstream Pagure ticket to expedite the solution.
