Install python-tidy, which pulls in libtidy. Try to import tidy from a python program and get: >>> import tidy Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> File "/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/tidy/__init__.py", line 43, in <module> from tidy.lib import parse, parseString File "/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/tidy/lib.py", line 33, in <module> raise OSError("Couldn't find libtidy, please make sure it is installed.") OSError: Couldn't find libtidy, please make sure it is installed. This is because it searches for the tidy library using a number of different names, none of which are installed. Install libtidy-devel, which provides libtidy.so, and now it works.
