libreoffice vs gdocs on HiDPI none

Description Lubos Kocman 2016-08-25 07:40:33 UTC
Description of problem:

I just installed f24 on 2015 Macbook pro 15" with retina and everything except of libreoffice looks gorgeous. See attached screenshot which compares google docs vs libreoffice.

I didn't tweak any gtk hdi/scaling options, since it wasn't necessary, all except of office suite simply works.rpm

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

# DEFAULT NO CHANGES AFTER INSTALL
$ gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.interface scaling-factor
uint32 0

[lkocman@dhcp-24-174 ~]$ xdpyinfo | grep -B 2 resolution
screen #0:
  dimensions: 2880x1800 pixels (762x476 millimeters)
  resolution: 96x96 dots per inch

libreoffice-writer-5.1.5.2-3.fc24.x86_64

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. run libreoffice/soffice on HiDPI
2.
3.

Actual results:

some HiDPI magic makes it little better, but it still doesn't look as expected

Expected results:

LibreOffice works with HiDPI by default, with no actions needed from user. See Firefox ;-)

Additional info:

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/HiDPI # FOR TIPS

I did try to play with following, but it does only little good. Still doesn't look as expected.

export GDK_SCALE=2
export GDK_DPI_SCALE=0.5

In addition to bug 1389731 and now to this one:
1) yes, my resolution is hi
 bash-4.3$ xdpyinfo | grep -B 2 resolution
 screen #0:
   dimensions: 2880x1620 pixels (762x429 millimeters)
   resolution: 96x96 dots per inch
2) I found that a problem appear when I use GNOME with Wayland, but I have not problem when I switch to GNOME with Xorg

Comment 7 Caolan McNamara 2016-11-24 10:39:48 UTC
wayland hidpi and libreoffice are definitely hosed. I think I've got wayland + hidpi working upstream now and I want to use the same solution under wayland and X, so lets try that now
