Every time I install a package with dnf on Rawhide, it will hang for several seconds (perhaps 10-30), and then print out "warning: Unable to get systemd shutdown inhibition lock". Here's an example (look right after the first package is installed):

This is a fresh Rawhide Server install as of today, and I used the "minimal" installation target.

Can you please test if systemd-inhibit works on your system?

See comment #1 - please test systemd-inhibit on the system.

Except for making the error more informative, there's unlikely to be anything to fix on rpm side. Rpm is merely issuing a dbus call to systemd inhibit interface (https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/systemd/inhibit/). If its not responding then maybe systemd-logind is not running, or something like that.

I just tried a dnf upgrade again on the same system that had exhibited this behavior in the past and the error message did not appear. I assume that it was fixed somewhere along the way. Thanks!

Ack, thanks for confirming. Rpm hasn't changed at all in the meanwhile so it indeed was some hitch in the systemd-logind/dbus/whatever.
