Description Jiffin 2016-09-08 05:39:03 UTC
Document URL:
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Storage/3.1/html-single/Administration_Guide/index.html#sect-NFS

Section Number and Name:
7.2

Describe the issue:
From 3.2 onwards, gluster nfs will be off by default

Suggestions for improvement:
Need to mention how to enable gluster nfs for a volume

Additional information:
volume set command for enabling gluster nfs
gluster v set <volname> nfs.disable off

For existing volumes (created 3.1 releases), this is not required

Comment 2 Bhavana 2016-11-28 04:17:17 UTC
A note is added at the beginning of the NFS chapter:

http://ccs-jenkins.gsslab.brq.redhat.com:8080/job/doc-Red_Hat_Gluster_Storage-3.2-Administration_Guide-branch-bz-1374150-gluster_nfs_off_by_default/lastSuccessfulBuild/artifact/tmp/en-US/html-single/index.html#sect-NFS

Moving it to modified for now. Once this topic branch is merged to master, I shall share the master link and move this bug to on_qa

Following change is needed in the section :

http://ccs-jenkins.gsslab.brq.redhat.com:8080/job/doc-Red_Hat_Gluster_Storage-3.2-Administration_Guide-branch-master/lastSuccessfulBuild/artifact/tmp/en-US/html-single/index.html#sect-NFS

From Red Hat Gluster Storage 3.2 onwards, NFS is turned off by default for new volumes. For existing volumes NFS will still be enabled until it was explicitly set to off.
To enable NFS for a volume, execute the following command:

Hi Alok,

Based on Surabhi's suggestion in comment 4, the note is can be updated to the following:

__________________________________________________________

From the Red Hat Gluster Storage 3.2 release onwards, Gluster NFS server will be disabled by default for any new volumes that are created. However, volumes existing prior to RHGS 3.2 will still continue to have Gluster Native NFS server enabled even after the upgrade.

Request you to review this and let us know if this looks ok or do you have any suggestions.
