Description Alex 2016-09-09 18:48:49 UTC
Description of problem:
SELinux is preventing ethtool from 'write' accesses on the file /run/tlp/lock_tlp.

***** Plugin catchall (100. confidence) suggests **************************

If you believe that ethtool should be allowed write access on the lock_tlp file by default.
Then you should report this as a bug.
You can generate a local policy module to allow this access.
Do
allow this access for now by executing:
# ausearch -c 'ethtool' --raw | audit2allow -M my-ethtool
# semodule -X 300 -i my-ethtool.pp

Getting this issue every time I disconnect from my Lenovo dock as well. I am running Fedora 24, not 25.

This package has changed ownership in the Fedora Package Database. Reassigning to the new owner of this component.

Comment 6 Jose Mantilla 2017-01-20 18:19:58 UTC
I have the same issue with my Asus K55V + Fedora 25.

Additionally, I don't know why I can save more power with tlp on fedora 23 that fedora 25 using the same laptop? -- I have wondered why you take out the "laptop-mode-tools" from fedora 25 repo --. I remember my tlp on fedora 23 I have had 3h:45m and now I have 3:05 and after 6min 2:42min with full charge --I have installed Fedora 25 since 2 weeks ago using the same laptop but on Fedora 25 the time of charge has a discount very strange.

I have configured tuned with powersave profile + disable some services but with it I have almost the same 3 hours --these additional packages seems don't improve anything but if you remove tlp package and use only tuned with powersave profile + powertop applying recommendations, you will have almost the same time saving.

I think tlp should be checked, update and improved. However, the last update on fedora was 18.08.2016 and the project says "Latest commit 20c6460 20 hours ago" and all their file have changed -- I think we will have a better version in a few weeks.

Same problem with Lenovo B560 and Fedora24.
This issue comes from release to release since FC21...

Any plans to have a solution?

Description of problem:
It's a regression in selinux-policy-3.13.1-225.20.fc25.noarch (never seen this in 3.13.1-225.16)

Comment 9 Fedora End Of Life 2017-11-16 19:39:50 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 25 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 25. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version'
of '25'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 25 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 10 Fedora End Of Life 2017-12-12 10:15:04 UTC
Fedora 25 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2017-12-12. Fedora 25 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you
are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the
current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this
bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.

Comment 11 Leszek Matok 2017-12-12 16:41:18 UTC
BTW, as a work-around it's enough to
dnf remove tlp

It also removes some kernel-tools package along with tlp, but I found no issues from lack of those two.
