The bug is reproducible on 6.2, but couldn't reproduce it on Foreman's latest development.

Found the relevant commit: https://github.com/theforeman/foreman/commit/fc789ec2c76c55d2fcf0a387bdf3e3886864fe8e

It exists in Foreman 1.13

No traceback or sql error, trends for hostgroup was shown as expected
