Description Michael Catanzaro 2016-09-14 04:46:03 UTC
The webkitgtk package will be removed from rawhide after Fedora 26 is branched due to the high number of unfixed security vulnerabilities. You must remove this dependency or your package will not be present in Fedora 27.

Please refer to [1] for a FAQ on this matter and be advised that for some packages this may require a substantial amount of work.

(Note to news media: GIMP is not going to be removed from Fedora. There is a configure flag that can be used if it is not ported in time.)

As I understand it, webkitgtk4 requires gtk3 which means we have to wait for GIMP 3.x which will use gtk3 as the GUI toolkit -- the next minor version will be 2.10 and I don't have an ETA for that.

This means that the help-browser and webpage plug-ins need to be disabled, and GIMP should be configured to use an external web browser for viewing online help.

Yes

Definitely the path of least resistance!

Heh. While not much regarding the GIMP schedule is known up-front, that part seems pretty clear to me -- GIMP will it use gtk3 with the next major version earliest and there's at least one minor one in between. ;)

I've updated the package so it doesn't include the internal help browser from Fedora 26 on, and rebuilt in Rawhide.
