I have same problem
I download Fedora-KDE-Live-x86_64-25_Alpha-2.iso from torrent on my PC.
I launch mediawritter, and choose custom os and the iso's location.
I test as root and as user.
As user I have a windows who require my rootpassword, I provided this password and mediawriter stop with a finish command.
In console I have that:
[dominique@host-192-168-1-2 ~]$ mediawriter
Warning: Invalid URL: QUrl("") ((null):0, (null))
Warning: qrc:/components/DownloadDialog.qml:232: ReferenceError: liveUSBData is not defined (qrc:/components/DownloadDialog.qml:232, (null))

I test as root and I have a windows with "Unknow protocol" and in console I have that :
[root@host-192-168-1-2 ~]# mediawriter
Warning: Error QNetworkReply::NetworkError(ProtocolUnknownError) reading from QUrl("") : "Le protocole \"\" est inconnu" ((null):0, (null))
[root@host-192-168-1-2 ~]#
