Description Couret Charles-Antoine 2016-09-24 21:26:05 UTC
I updated mediawriter to version 3.97.1.
So, when I click on some buttons like "Create LiveUSB" or "Restore", my system freezes.

I used it on Fedora 25 x86_64 and GNOME Wayland session.
I don't have logs about it. And I don't have issue with the version 3.96.0.

Hmm, sorry, I will need some more information. What hardware are you running on? Which graphical drivers, please?

Comment 2 Couret Charles-Antoine 2016-09-27 11:58:28 UTC
My laptop is a HP Elitebook 8560w.
GPU nVidia Quadro 1000m (nvc0) with nouveau driver.

Any issues with other applications in my case.

Comment 3 Martin Bříza 2016-09-29 14:46:34 UTC
Is there something in the journal around the time of the freeze?
Try using journalctl --since -5m

Comment 4 Couret Charles-Antoine 2016-09-29 19:36:30 UTC
Nothing interesting in the journal around this bug.
I have to reboot my system with hardware button, because TTY or GDM are not available.

Comment 5 Martin Bříza 2016-09-30 10:37:01 UTC
Hmm, is it really caused by the mediawriter update? I noticed similar behavior on my system under Wayland but not only in mediawriter but a lot of other XWayland applications, like Opera 12 or konsole.
Is the problem still present on a fully updated Fedora 25 system? If yes, please try downgrading mediawriter using the RPMs from this link: http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=801628 and tell me if 3.96 exhibits the problem too or not.
I don't think there was any change to mediawriter that could cause the problem but I think this is a good start of debugging...

Comment 6 Couret Charles-Antoine 2016-09-30 12:06:12 UTC
I will test to downgrade the version.
So, the first version of mediawriter during the test day (3.96 I guess) works correctly, I have an error to write on my USB stick but I didn't have this bug at this time.

Comment 10 Bruce Schreiber 2016-12-05 22:46:47 UTC
This freeze issue is still occurring in Fedora 24. When I attempt to create a Fedora 25 LiveUSB in Fedora 24 the machine freezes. Please add the fix to the other supported releases.

Thank you,

Bruce
