Document URL:

https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en/red-hat-cloudforms/4.1/support-matrix/support-matrix#supported_browsers

Section Number and Name:

supported_browsers

Describe the issue:

As far as I know, Chrome 45+ can not be used to access the VMRC plugins anymore

Suggestions for improvement:

It would be better if we could make it clear that Chrome 45+ is not supported to use VMRC plugins for VMware provider. And of course if we have other restrictions it would be better to be added.

For me I don't know what is " Firefox Extended Support Release FAQ " or " Chrome for Business FAQ - Chrome for Business Help " but all I know is the version number...

Best Regards,
Chen

This bug was discussed at the APAC SBR-CFME call today.

See also https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1295453. Although it is documented in the older Kbase linked from BZ1295453, the customer would like to see the supported browsers documented more clearly.

See Saleforce case #01646661 for more details.

Hi Dayle

Thank you very much for your help.

I checked 6.2. Browsers but it seems that we didn't mention that we don't support Chrome 45 and newer.

In addition, can we make the supported version number more clear ? As I mentioned in the description, I have no idea what is " Firefox Extended Support Release FAQ " or "Chrome for Business FAQ - Chrome for Business Help. ".. The customer is only familiar with the version numbers.

Best Regards,
Chen

Hi Chen,

No problem - I'll see what I can find out.
However, I believe VMRC is something specific only to VMware providers though, correct?

Thank you,
Dayle

Hi Loic,

Can you provide more details about the supported browser versions (version numbers) please?

1) Firefox Extended Support Release - which versions of Firefox ESR is CloudForms 4.1 supported/tested on?

2) Chrome for Business - which versions of Chrome is CloudForms 4.1 supported/tested on?

3) Are there any providers which must use specific browser versions (ie. VMware - Chrome v. 45+)?

Thanks so much,
Dayle

Hi Dayle,

Yeah VMRC is specific to VMware providers.

Chen

Hi Chen,

The CloudForms 4.1 Support Matrix has been updated and is available here:

https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en/red-hat-cloudforms/4.1/single/support-matrix/

These updates will also be included as part of the CloudForms 4.2 Support Matrix when the product is released.

In "2. Supported Browsers", I've added a link to the chapter ("6. Remote Console Support") which contained existing info about VMRC support and browser limitations so it the information is easier to find. I've also added a link to VMware's documentation about VMRC and browser versions.

Since browser updates and support for VMware plug-ins are not handled by Red Hat, we can provide a generic support statement, but for specifics, it is best to refer to the other parties' documentation.

Thank you,
Dayle
