We do not update packages in systems used in enterprise environment, because it can cause unwanted disruptions. Instead we usually backport fixes and/or features that are required. For package update, there must be some strong reason that outweighs the cons. Why exactly do you need newer smartmontools package? Isn't smartmontools working for you correctly? I understand it. I see some wrong parameters/output some new SSD disks. This just needs drivedb update. I've created a new bug to track this as bug #1388510 Also you can update it yourself with update-smart-drivedb. If update does not help, then upstream does not support it yet and update would not help either. I will close this bug as duplicate of above mentioned bug #1388510. If you have other problems with smartmontools. File it as separate bugs. Thanks *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 1388510 *** |
