Further investigation reminded me that I had installed bumblebee which is a means of managing hybrid graphics chip sets. The installation of this rpm also installed VirtualGL,ftlk, libsd and turbojpeg on my system. Upon removing these rpms and rebooting the system was able to recognize the HDMI devices. There are still problems ( no sound, desktop issues) but this problem is solved. If I cannot solve the other issues I will open other bugs. Thanks, closing Just for reference what component should I have assigned this to? There are other audio issues related so I want to put in the correct component. audio issues... probably pulseaudio |
Created attachment 1205785 [details] Xorg.log from a boot Description of problem:I have a Lenovo Thinkpad P50 with a 4k screen. The laptop has and HDMI output on which I connect either a monitor or a TV. When I run Windows 10, Ubuntu, Fedora 24 KDE Live, or Fedora 24 Workstation live these devices are detected and work as expected. However my production system Fedora 24 with a KDE desktop does not detect the attached device. I tried GDM (rather than SDDM)as the window manager with the same result. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Fedora 24 KDE with all the latest patches. See attached Xorg log which shows only the laptop display being detected. I assigned this to the component SDDM for the lack of an X windows component. How reproducible: Every time. Steps to Reproduce: 1.Boot 2. 3. Actual results: No Monitor detected Expected results: Additional info:
