Description Chris Dearborn 2016-10-13 19:02:42 UTC
Description of problem:
I tried to install the RHEL 7.3 beta onto a PowereEdge R720 by hosting the installation media on the virtual CD/DVD and by hosting the media on a web server, and was unable to select either in the GUI installer.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
7.3 Beta

How reproducible:
Bring up the idrac console
Mount the 7.3 beta ISO on the virtual CD/DVD
Set the next boot to the virtual CD/DVD
Power up the node
The installer starts running
Select the language and hit Next
At the next screen the installation source shows an error
Select the installation source icon
At this point, only the PERC RAID controller is available to be selected for devices. The virtual CD/DVD is not shown and so cannot be selected.
The radio button to select a network URL for installation media is ghosted out and cannot be selected to do an installation loading the media from a web server.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. See above.

Actual results:
Installation source shows an error.

Expected results:
Installation should be successful.
Should be able to select the virtual CD/DVD from the installer for media source.
Should be able to select the radio button to enter a URL for hosting the media on a web server.

Additional info:
Also tried using a kickstart file with:
install
cdrom

This errored out with installation source error.
Also tried using a kickstart file with:
install
url --url http://IP/rhel_install

This errored out with the same installation source error.

Please ignore this for the moment. I didn't realize I was using the boot ISO.
Will retry with the full ISO and close this if appropriate.

Comment 3 Chris Dearborn 2016-10-13 20:14:09 UTC
Sigh - this was just me using the boot ISO instead of the full one. Closing this as not a bug.
