Description Warren 2016-10-15 02:51:46 UTC
Description of problem:
I am not sure if this is covered anywhere, but we support connecting an existing ceph cluster to openstack.

The undercloud instructions saves images. If one then configures openstack to use ceph, it seems like openstack's ability to see those images is lost.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

OSPD 9

How reproducible:
100% of the time

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install the undercloud: https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en/red-hat-openstack-platform/9/paged/director-installation-and-usage/chapter-4-installing-the-undercloud#sect-Configuring_the_Director
2. Note that in step 4.7 Images are created.
3. Now connect to Ceph
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en/red-hat-ceph-storage/2/single/ceph-block-device-to-openstack-guide/

Actual results:

You cannot use openstack to find those images.

Expected results:

Actually, I expect this result to happen, but there should be a documented way of getting these images onto ceph, or some automagical code that does it.

Why would you need to have the overcloud image in the Ceph cluster that will be used by OpenStack?

Comment 2 Alex Schultz 2017-02-08 23:41:32 UTC
I don't think we support connecting a ceph cluster to the undercloud. As the undercloud has it's own set of configurations from the overcloud, I do not believe this is supported. Feel free to reopen this with additional configuration details, but as far as I understand the described configuration is not supported.
