Description Simon Rowe 2016-10-15 08:11:18 UTC
Description of problem:
Installed, configured and enabled the Fedora dhcpd.service:

dnf install dhcpd-server
mv /etc/dhcp/dhcpd.conf /etc/dhcp/dhcpd.conf-orig
cp /my/own/dhcpd.conf /etc/dhcp/dhcpd.conf
systemctl enable dhcpd.service
systemctl start dhcpd.service
systemctl status dhcpd.service

Above all worked fine and dhcpd runs ok

Then I got notified of an issue via Gnome Desktop notifications
Applied the suggested 'troubleshooting' solution which is given as:

ausearch -c 'dhcpd' --raw | audit2allow -M my-dhcpd
semodule -X 300 -i my-dhcpd.pp

The troubleshooting details also requested this was submitted as a bug report - so here it is!

SELinux is preventing dhcpd from using the 'fowner' capabilities.

***** Plugin catchall (100. confidence) suggests **************************

If you believe that dhcpd should have the fowner capability by default.
Then you should report this as a bug.
You can generate a local policy module to allow this access.
Do
allow this access for now by executing:
# ausearch -c 'dhcpd' --raw | audit2allow -M my-dhcpd
# semodule -X 300 -i my-dhcpd.pp
