- The attached patch (1st Attachment) was done against upstream's CVS at Sourceforge but applies flawlessly to the unpacked tarball in rpmbuild. - Because the attached patch is generic against upstream, it contains some additions which are not needed on Fedora, because on Fedora the regular ping command can handle both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. (It introduces a new config var named 'PingPath6' which gets selected, if the target is an IPv6-host). On Fedora, this new config var can simply point to the same like the 'PingPath' var. On the other hand, Fedora provides ping6 as well and it does not hurt to set it to /usr/bin/ping6. Cheers -Fritz Thanks for the patch. Created attachment 1211336 [details] Patch, fixing this bug Description of problem: If attempting to backup a host where the name resolves to an IPv6 address, the backup fails with the following entry in the log file: Can't find host HOSTNAME via netbios where HOSTNAME is a clickable link to that host's status page. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): BackupPC-3.3.1-5.fc24.x86_64 (AFAIK, applies to any version) How reproducible: always Steps to Reproduce: 1. In /etc/BackupPC/hosts, add a host which resolves to an IPv6-Address only. 2. Start a backup of that host 3. Actual results: Backup fails, "Can't find host HOSTNAME via netbios" shown in host log and "No ping (host not found)" shown in status overview. Expected results: Backup succeeds. Additional info:
