Description Stephen John Smoogen 2016-10-27 22:35:30 UTC
Description of problem:

The Nagios package is several versions behind the current release by Nagios.org. While there do not seem to be any known security problems the version 4.0.8 is no longer supported.

I tried emailing the packager last week and got a bounce on his email address with affix.me no longer around. It was re-registered this week but I want to make sure it is with the same person etc.

Stephen,

I am one of the package administrators and did get your email, just haven't had the time to respond as I was hospitalized for several weeks.

affix.me email hasn't worked since before I was even an admin for the package.

I am in short supply of time, however it looks like you and a couple contributors have done some work on the package, I would be willing to make them contributors on the package.

One thing I will note, major version bumps ( like from 3.x.x to 4.x.x ) where Nagios API changes (and config items are deprecated) will only likely be approved if it is the only option to fix a CVE, and then, only if there is some sort of automated way to clean the configs.

OK I am going to start the nonresponsive packager for affix then as you are not listed as the owner or contact for the package. I will look at taking over the package as I need it for my day to day work.

This package has met resolution. I have taken over nagios and will be working on a replacement package.
