Description vivpatil 2016-10-28 13:12:39 UTC
Description of problem:
Kexec does not work for uninterrupted pxe based discovery provisioning.

However if we use iso for discovery kexec provisioning works. Also it works if you interrupt the pxe based discovery boot process and manually enter the discovery details.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Satellite 6.2.2

How reproducible:
Every time

Actual results:
Kexec does not work for PXE based discovery process.

Expected results:
Kexec should also work for PXE based discovery process also In order to avoids reboot and also using discovery iso is very much time consuming if there are large no of hosts.

Hello, please elaborate on "does not work". Work with the customer to narrow down the issue. This could be network, routing, firewall.

Comment 4 Lukas Zapletal 2016-11-23 12:29:56 UTC
At the moment, kexec can be only used for PXE-less hosts.

This is a valid RFE, renamed. We will provide this feature in the future. In the meantime, use reboot. There is no easy workaround to use kexec, there are some facts missing in PXE mode.
