Description Andrew Dahms 2016-11-09 01:27:05 UTC
In QCI 1.1, product selection is disabled after a deployment begins. A quick note about this behavior must be added to the installation guide to provide guidance to users.

Andrew, which engineering RFE does this correspond to?

After assessing this bug, I don't think there is any docs impact. Pls let me know if you have anyone disagrees. Will close this bug shortly.

So from the eng bug:

Once a deployment is started, 'edit product selection' is still displayed and allows the user to edit an existing deployment while it is being deployed. Once a deployment starts, all existing input fields are disabled when you go back and review each page so 'edit product selection' shouldn't be enabled.

The two sentences seem to contradict each other -- I think you are saying that it is sentence #2 that is the actual behaviour. So there is nowhere that you think the user needs to be alerted that, after deployment starts, product selection cannot be changed ... or is that very obvious and needs no explanation?

Hi Derek,
Yep, this is the behaviour for 1.1:
"Once a deployment starts, all existing input fields are disabled when you go back and review each page so 'edit product selection' shouldn't be enable"

There are preparation work beforehand for a deployment, so I feel it's unlikely people will want to change products half way through a deployment... This is when user has actually clicked the deployment button and confirmed to deploy.
The RFE is good as it prevents users from getting their deployment into a weird unfixable state, but again, I don't think many users would want to change a deployment halfway so they probably won't even notice if the 'edit product selection' button is available or not.

That's just my thought on this.

Julie

Haven't received any objections so therefore closing this bug.
