Description Joel Juliano 2004-11-15 06:40:35 UTC
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5)
Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0

Description of problem:
In the anaconda installer for grub, it says "DOS" for Microsoft
Windows, and "Fedora Core" for Linux. Is there's a way to detect the
foreign OS so it would not end up saying "DOS" as a label.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
while using anaconda in the process of installing grub.

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Fedora Core 1-3.

Not in a reliable fashion. And FC3 actually uses "Other" instead of
"DOS" for these

Would 'Windows' when NTFS or FAT32 is discovered not be a better
choice ? Most people would expect proper naming when suddenly a
bootmanager offers choice they previously did not have.

We could assume that people installing Fedora Core or RHEL are doing
it on a system that (still) runs Windows.

I'd rather have my DOS entry called Windows then my Windows (and other
entries) being called Other
