Cause: docker (containers/image) wasn't reading proxy variables from environment when contacting registries Consequence: inability to pull images when the system is behind a proxy Fix: fix containers/image (which is a dependency of docker) to read proxy variables from environment Result: pulling images when the system is behind a proxy works.
