Comment 13 Olivier Fourdan 2016-11-17 07:47:57 UTC
Odd, from the backtrace it looks this occurs while closing the screen, i.e. the Xserver is cleaning up before exiting, meaning that the session itself was gone.

Can you check in your journaltcl logs around the time of the issue to see if xfce4-session or even gdm had failed to start the session somehow?

Comment 14 Adam Williamson 2016-11-17 07:53:07 UTC
I think this one might have been caused (somehow) by trying to log into Xfce after a failed attempt to log into GNOME. When I boot clean then log into Xfce it works, but I can't seem to get into GNOME whether I choose the Xorg or Wayland sessions; it always barfs somehow. I'm going to file more detailed bugs tomorrow, it's late now. We can probably close this one I guess.
