Description VIKRANT 2016-11-19 03:55:41 UTC
Description of problem:

Initially RHEV VM was able to get the IP address from undercloud VM but it was not able to copy the image from undercloud node.

It was getting failed with message "No filename or root path specified"

Followed the KCS [1] and did following modification in /etc/ironic-inspector/dnsmasq.conf file to make the introspection successful.

1) Added line "dhcp-no-override"
2) commented "dhcp-match=ipxe,175"
3) restarted ironic service
4) Started introspection of overcloud VM node. It went to infinite loop to download unidonly.kpxe
5) We again uncommented line "dhcp-match=ipxe,175" in the middle of introspection, and restarted ironic service.
6) now the introspection was successful.

Before trying above steps we also tried simply adding line "dhcp-no-override" in /etc/ironic-inspector/dnsmasq.conf. It was able to get file inspector.ipxe, however it was not able to download it and the VM gets pause hence Cu. commented dhcp-match before starting introspection and uncommented it during the introspection to make the introspection successful.

[1] Subject : Why RHEV guests fails when booting via PXE + dnsmasq?
Link : https://access.redhat.com/solutions/428103

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
RHEL OSP 7
Underlying HW used for RHEV setup is HPE ProLiant DL380 Generation9 (Gen9)

How reproducible:
Everytime for Cu.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start the introspection for VM present in RHEV environment.
2.
3.

Actual results:
Introspection is not getting completed without manual intervention.

Expected results:
Introspection should get completed without any issue.

Additional info:

Only one vNIC is attached to Overcloud RHEV VM.

Hi, is it still a problem? We don't actually support RHEV for nodes, so if you have a workaround, I suggest you stick to it.
