Description of problem:

 We would like to use "get valid server state" functionality, that was implemented in Mitaka.

That is a feature, the patches introduce changes in the object model, the database and the public API. It seems to be complicated to address that request.

Right, unfortunately such changes introduce issues particularly for updates which mean we can't include them as backports in a minor update (z-stream).
