A workaround is to delete the offending packages, which essentially unistalls sagemath for the duration of Fedora upgrade: dnf remove sagemath sagemath-doc BTW, after the upgrade to F25, I was able to reinstall sagemath and sagemath-doc without problems with
> dnf install sagemath sagemath-doc
Why are there file conflicts between 2 different versions of the SAME package? Only one should be installed at a time. This sounds like a DNF bug to me. I have the same problem. The suggested workaround would remove 256 packages, some of which look pretty “unrelated” to me: texinfo, rlwrap, zeromq and pyserial for example (see attached file for a complete list). I would really like to avoid having to decide which of those I need to reinstall after upgrading. Getting the dependencies right seem like a better fix, at least for me :-) Created attachment 1232887 [details]

I opened bug 1404897 against DNF on this issue: people there blame packaging errors---but I agree with Kevin that if it's the same file in the same package, DNF should not throw an error. Sorry for the long delay to respond. This was caused by not properly testing updates. The issue was due to inheriting some changes from upstream, with directories replaced by symlinks or vice-versa. But indeed, the case of debuginfo is more complicated, as it is an automatically generated package.
