This is true for all spins; as soon as X starts the system is hosed. You cannot get to any VTs. The only way to boot Fedora 25 on a GTX 970 system (and likely some other nvidia GPUs) is in Basic Graphics mode. The only way I currently know to use such a GPU in Fedora 25 or 24 is to install the nvidia drivers from rpmfusion post-install and clean up the nomodeset setting from grub. I'm attaching logs from attempting to boot Fedora 25 Workstation. I got logs from journalctl dumped to text and a nomodeset Xorg log. I am not seeing any failed boot Xorg logs for some reason, all of the /var/log/Xorg*log are the nomodeset boots. I'll be happy to try this again if someone lets me know how to get an X log in the failing scenario, or any other information. Created attachment 1224629 [details]

System information for hardware
fpaste --sysinfo --printonly output from Fedora 24. I can redo this in Fedora 25 if it's useful (I forgot to gather it while getting other logs) but this is just for hardware information on the system I'm using and having issues on.
I can confirm this happens with GTX 1060 too. Perhaps this is related (?) I have an Optimus Laptop (Dell XPS 15 9550) and I'm using F26 Workstation right now and have AUTO-LOGIN enabled. Since the last two updates I cannot log into my Account using Wayland. After turning off Wayland in /etc/gdm/custom.conf I can login again. Also after turning off Auto-Login GDM with Wayland works (I guess) and I can select GNOME on Xorg (that works). Created attachment 1279899 [details]

Happens for me as well on the latest Fedora 26 ISO. Both start options result in a black screen. Basic graphics mode works but limits the resolution to 800×600. NVidia GTX 970 This message is a reminder that Fedora 25 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 25. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '25'.
