Description of problem:
The abrt-ccpp service installs its core_pattern hook to allow it to handle coredumps when it starts up. However, it appears that this doesn't consistently happen after systemd installs its own coredump hook (via sysctl, triggered by /usr/lib/sysctl.d/50-coredump.conf) so the system ends up with cores being handled by systemd-coredump instead (which is currently broken as described in bug 1365435). This results in ABRT reporting being non-functional. My understanding is that the intention was abrt-ccpp should override systemd-coredump in F25. If that's the case it seems like the systemd sysctl should be disabled entirely by default.

How reproducible:
Sometimes (may be a race condition). This system is a fairly fast Haswell quad-core machine with an SSD.

Actual results:
/proc/sys/kernel/core_pattern refers to systemd-coredump
Process core dumps are not detected by ABRT (even with abrt-journal-core.service enabled as systemd-coredump currently seems broken due to bug 1365435)

Expected results:
/proc/sys/kernel/core_pattern refers to /usr/libexec/abrt-hook-ccpp
ABRT detects coredumps properly

This message is a reminder that Fedora 25 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 25. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora  'version'
of '25'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

of Fedora, you are encouraged  change the 'version' to a later Fedora

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Fedora 25 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2017-12-12. Fedora 25 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.
