Host disks (those with static IP configuration) only support primary DNS. This RFE is about implementing a secondary DNS.

Unfortunately, the underlaying firmware iPXE only supports one as far as I can tell (http://ipxe.org/cfg/dns), I confirmed this in the codebase (parse_ipv4_setting).

If you want, we can file the request on platform to implement this in iPXE firmware.

I opened that request as BZ 1438398

Comment 4 Neil Horman 2018-08-17 13:28:46 UTC
The way the code is written, it seems like the most straightforward route to implement this would be to add a second configuration option (dns2 or some such), to allow for a secondary dns server to be specified. You couldn't get an arbitrary amount of dns servers configured, but it would be better than one. Is that sufficient?

Comment 5 Pat Riehecky 2018-08-17 13:29:34 UTC
That would be sufficient for my needs

Thank you for your interest in Satellite 6. We have evaluated this request, and we do not expect this to be implemented in the product in the foreseeable future. We are therefore closing this out as WONTFIX. If you have any concerns about this, please feel free to contact Rich Jerrido or Bryan Kearney. Thank you.
