Description of problem:
When playing video files with surround sound, audio is not downmixed to stereo on stereo (headhones) output.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
pulseaudio-9.0-1.fc25.x86_64

How reproducible:

On my system, always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Upgraded from f24 to f25
2. Play for example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PSXjr1gbjc (both firefox and chromium generates the error)


Actual results:
Distorted audio, sounds like I only get the surround (back) channel(s). Some sounds and effects are loud, while dialog and music are very low.

Expected results:
Downmix to stereo when output is a stereo headset. Or even just play the front channels.

Additional info:

I don't actually know if this is a bug in alsa or in pulseaudio, or just missing config. In f24, this tend to work fine.

This message is a reminder that Fedora 25 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 25. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora  'version'
of '25'.

plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Fedora 25 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2017-12-12. Fedora 25 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you
are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the

Put the following options in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa.conf , and things started to work. There are quite a few possible variants, though.

options snd-hda-intel model=laptop
