Description Christian Marineau 2016-12-07 15:46:20 UTC
Description of problem:
When trying to update a package (or Update All Packages) using Bulk Action for Content Hosts, or Host Collection, no task are created.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Satellite 6.2.4
With latest Errata RHBA-2016:2855

Steps to Reproduce:
1. From "Content Hosts", select 1 or multiple host
2. Click "Bulk Actions", from "Packages" tab, click "Update All"
3. Click "Yes" to confirm your action

Actual results:
Message receive in UI "Successfully scheduled an update of all packages", but no tasks is showing under Monitor > Tasks

Expected results:
See a new task created => Actions::Katello::Host::Package::Update

Additional info:
Same behaviour when following similar method with Host Collection.
Same behaviour experienced with working with Errata instead of Packages
Working directly within the Content Host context is correctly creating the task.

Comment 1 Pavel Moravec 2016-12-11 09:13:00 UTC
"Update all packages" fails to create the task for "via Katello Agent" option only.

Both "via remote execution" and "via remote execution - customize first" options do create relevant tasks properly.

Therefore using REX is a workaround here.

Just to clarify: no foreman/dynflow task is created, but the underlying work is properly executed.

Comment 3 Daniel Lobato Garcia 2016-12-30 09:48:30 UTC
From what I'm seeing when I try to reproduce, both things work, installing Errata and updating packages (despite no task created) seem to work well.

What exactly do you want us to fix with this BZ? You want a task to be created because you want to track the progress..?

I don't understand why the two cases attached are performance issues about installing Errata, which doesn't have anything to do with the description of the BZ.

Comment 5 Christian Marineau 2017-01-09 14:09:30 UTC
The bug was wrongly described as it must have been focusing on Errata deployment rather then package update. That been said the Errata deployment is working fine on the latest Satellite 6.2.6. This bug should be closed.
