Description yangfei 2016-12-08 03:30:17 UTC
Description of problem:

Chinese fonts directory can't be changed in sftp on rhel6, rhel5 is okay.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

openssh-clients-5.3p1-104.el6.x86_64

How reproducible:

On rhel5 client:

sftp> ls

 测试
sftp> cd 测试

it's normal.

On rhel6 client:

sftp> ls

 测试
sftp> cd 测试 ============> the Chinese fonts can't be written or copied.

Expected results:

Could change to Chinese fonts directory on rhel6

From the latest comment, does that mean the rhel6 will not fix this issue ?

Comment 7 Boris Ranto 2017-03-22 20:11:43 UTC
Yes, bringing the unicode support to libedit is a fix that is too invasive for this late at the release. I would recommend using a later RHEL release with much newer libedit for this.
