Description Adrian Reber 2016-12-09 10:11:33 UTC
Description of problem:
With the update to Fedora 25 from Fedora 23 I am no longer able to draw maps using python-basemap (python-basemap-1.0.7-12.fc25.x86_64):

I get following traceback:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/home/fhadm/ftpadmin/bin/mirrortraffic.py", line 696, in <module>
    draw_client_density(dest, client_ips, 'overall')
  File "/home/fhadm/ftpadmin/bin/mirrortraffic.py", line 81, in draw_client_density
    m.drawlsmask(ocean_color=(0,0,255,255), land_color=(0,128,0,255), lakes=True)
File "/usr/lib64/python2.7/site-packages/mpl_toolkits/basemap/__init__.py", line 3916, in drawlsmask
    np.concatenate((lsmask_lons,lsmask_lons[1:]+360),1)
IndexError: axis 1 out of bounds [0, 1)

Following upstream patch fixes this for me:

Comment 5 Adrian Reber 2016-12-11 16:55:20 UTC
Thanks for the quick update.

I filed a ticket upstream I had with an old configuration file. Just mentioning it here if someone else stumbles upon upside down maps:

https://github.com/matplotlib/basemap/issues/329

'backend: cairo' resulted in upside down maps. Deleting my matplotlibrc resulted in correct drawn maps again.
