Are there any error messages on tty3 or tty4? No errors on tty3 or tty4, but the default output says "error reading info on service linuxconf : No such file or directory" right before the "abnormal termination" message (sorry I didn't see it earlier). I checked and there's no "linuxconf" on /bin, /sbin, /usr/bin nor /usr/sbin. There is a /etc/linuxconf directory though. Uninstalling the linuxconf and gnome-linuxconf packages fixed the problem. From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040914 Firefox/0.10.1 Description of problem: Trying to upgrade RH8.0 + Packages to FC3, booting from CD. This happens both with graphical and text installs. Media check is OK. After choosing "upgrade", RH8.0 is correctly listed, I chose it, I get a warning about installed packages overlapping with FC ones, I continue, I get a message saying installation will require the 4 CDs, the 2nd stage is copied to HD (lots of free space), then the dialog "Preparing RPM Transaction" appears, it stays at 0% for a couple of seconds, then I'm thrown to the text mode, with "abnormal termination". No errors reported. Upon reboot, there's no /root/upgrade.log. System is AMD Athlon XP 1800+, 512 MB RAM, 40 GB HD (1.4 GB free on /), GeForce4 MX 440 correctly detected.
