PPP support is now moved into a separate package With this update, the Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) support is moved into a separate, optional _NetworkManager-ppp_ package. As a result, the dependency chain of *NetworkManager* is smaller and it is possible to limit the number of installed packages. Note that to configure PPP settings, you must make sure that the _NetworkManager-ppp_ package is installed.

Description Beniamino Galvani 2016-12-14 08:38:08 UTC
At the moment the main NM package has a hard dependency on pppd, which
pulls in a lot of other dependent packages.

It would be better to move the PPP support into a NM plugin that can
be loaded dynamically when needed, and ship the plugin in a separate,
optional package.

Comment 1 Beniamino Galvani 2016-12-14 13:29:28 UTC
Feature now available upstream (see GNOME bugzilla entry).
