Description Thomas Spear 2016-12-21 18:49:10 UTC
Description of problem:
Trying to install perl-Perl-Critic package from EPEL6 on RHEL6 causes the error below. This installs cleanly on RHEL5.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
n/a

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install EPEL5 on RHEL5 and EPEL6 on RHEL6
2. Attempt to install perl-Perl-Critic on both systems
3. Observe that the above package installs cleanly on RHEL5 but fails on RHEL6.

Actual results:
Error: Package: perl-Perl-Critic-1.105-2.el6.noarch (epel)
           Requires: perl(Readonly)

Expected results:
Package and dependencies installed successfully

Additional info:
There are other modules that perl-Perl-Critic depends on which are missing from EPEL6. I will be filing a bug against those as well.

Comment 1 Paul Howarth 2016-12-21 19:33:32 UTC
EPEL pulls in dependencies from the "optional" channel/repo in RHEL, as mentioned on the EPEL wiki page:

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EPEL#How_can_I_use_these_extra_packages.3F

Do you have that enabled?

Comment 2 Thomas Spear 2016-12-21 19:56:43 UTC
Added it and the dependency appeared. Thank you for your insight.
