Description josip.pojatina 2017-01-07 09:14:23 UTC
Description of problem:
After upgrade my PC from Fedora 24 --> 25, I can no longer to use defined VPN connections, as the GUI doesn't show up. If I try to define VPN connection from the beginning (openvpn), after filling all the filds, the button to Create a new VPN connection remains grayed (disabled).

From Terminal I have no issues, and currently It's the only way to connect by using VPN.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
25

How reproducible:
With Cinnamon or XFCE GUI confirmed.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Click on Network connections, VPN
2.
3.

Actual results:
GUI doesn't show up. If you try to create a new VPN connection by using openvpn, button for VPN creation is disabled (grayed).

Expected results:
VPN gui should appear where I can choose VPN connection to use.

Additional info:
The only way to connect by VPN is to use terminal.
In earlier release of Fedora, after the upgrade usually mobile broadband won't work (I didn't check if it is working now, as I'm using hot-spot instead).

This time seems like someone forget to migrate part of the GUI code responsible for VPN, as GUI version of VPN works with no issue in Fedora 24.

Comment 1 David Sommerseth 2017-01-07 11:08:56 UTC
As openvpn itself works from the command line and the NetworkManager-openvpn plug-in is responsible for the GUI, moving to the proper group.

Comment 2 Thomas Haller 2017-01-07 20:54:27 UTC
is NetworkManager-openvpn-gnome installed? Are you using gnome-control-center or nm-connection-editor?

Comment 3 Fedora End Of Life 2017-12-12 10:12:18 UTC
Fedora 25 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2017-12-12. Fedora 25 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you
are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the
current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this
bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
