Description Paul 2017-01-10 21:44:03 UTC
Description of problem:
Every since flash-plugin 24 was released in December, the plugin crashes when playing http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/player/bbc_radio_three.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
firefox 45.6.0 ESR
flash-plugin 24.0.0.194

How reproducible:
Happens all the time, ususally within less than 30 minutes of starting to play.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open new tab in Firefox (45.6.0 EST as of today 10jan17) to http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/player/bbc_radio_three
2. select "Move to new window"
3. let it play until it crashes

Actual results:
crash of flash-plugin

Expected results:
no crash (like the prior version 11 did before adobe started making new releases for Linux)

Additional info:
If I close that Firefox window and repeat the above, that is enough to kill existing hung flash-plugin and start a new one (which will play until it crashes.

I have tried submitting ABRT but it will not accept my redhat bugzilla login/passwd, so I am logining directly into bugzilla.redhat.com to submit (would be nice to figure out how to get ABRT to work) -- i couldn't even get ABRT to do a tar/gz to /tmp without failing

Am running latest and greatest of everything for Centos 6.8 as of today when I got this crash testing the new release of flash-plugin.

This problem is so reproducible that it is not problem to get a new instance to try to send if someone can help me figure out how to get the data to you

Two things:

I think I made an error submitting it to this Bugzilla when, in fact, I am running Centos 6. Can you please advise if I ought to move the issue to their Bugzilla or, given that RHEL and Centos are supposed to by "in sync", it is okay to keep it here.

Second, I discovered that it has nothing to do with BBC. I clicked a link to look at the upcoming Bud Super Bowl ad to see whether it was, as the news claims, "somewhat" political. After the ad ran, I got the ABRT.

I am enclosing snapshot of what I am seeing in ABRT since there is something wrong in my system that does not allow me to use ABRT to automagically report issues

I saw that flash-plugin 24.0.0.221 was released today and downloaded to see if the problem was still there.

As opposed to usually hanging/crashing in less than 30 minutes, it has been happily playing for 4 1/2 hours so far ... and still playing as I write this update

As there is nothing in this bug except my reports (as in no developer or other user feedback), I can't tell if adobe knew about this bug (either from this report or some other report) and explicitly fixed it. For all I know, they made improvements which just so happened fixed the problem.

Given that my local classical public radio is in a pledge week (yes, I did give), I will have lots of evenings to exercise this latest release. Will report back in a week or so whether this promising event holds up for alot more than 4 1/2 hours straight.

If that holds up, I will push 24.0.0.221 to my RHEL/Centos 7 system to confirm it works there (I kept that on 11.2.202.664 until this issue is/was resolved). As noted, I might have made a mistake reporting to RHEL and not Centos, but since I didn't get a reply about "move to Centos Bugzilla", I will keep the thread in this Bugzilla.

If this bug was explicitly fixed and this bug report had anything to do with it, please send thanks to whoever fixed it.

It held up for a 3 days non-stop running (with volume off at times) so I think this report can be closed. It appears that I can't close it
