Description Marcel Haerry 2017-03-05 09:16:27 UTC
Description of problem:

The version currently in EL7 lacks support for things like argon2, updating to a newer version (e.g. 1.0.11) will introduce a few more things.

Rebuilding the F25 SRPM on EL7 works fine.

Reading the release notes, everything should be backwards compatible: https://github.com/jedisct1/libsodium/releases

Comment 1 Remi Collet 2017-03-05 09:34:20 UTC
But will break the API/ABI which is against update policy.

1.0.6 => 3 removed symbols
1.0.7 => 10 removed symbols

Comment 3 Remi Collet 2017-03-05 09:38:46 UTC
If someone want to provide nother package, which can be installed beside default version (e.g. libsodum18), fine for me

BTW, this is what I do in "remi" repository with the libsodium-last package.
