This message is a reminder that Fedora 26 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 26. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time

The man page says:

On systems with additional libraries installed, you may have access to further services such as "hesiod", "ldap", "winbind", and "wins".

Are you suggesting it should include the 3 mentioned services in those examples?

"myhostname" is documented in nss-myhostname(8), "systemd" in nss-systemd(8), I don't see a man page documenting the "sss" service, but that should be reported to sssd, not man-pages.

That would OK if '"myhostname" is documented in nss-myhostname(8), "systemd" in nss-systemd(8)' is included somehow.
"/usr/share/man/man8/nss-systemd.8.gz" and "/usr/share/man/man8/nss-myhostname.8.gz" are provided by systemd package.

Due to your comment I found a hint in `man sssd-files`. In EXAMPLE section you can read:

Indeed, "man nss-sss" does not exist. I filed: https://github.com/SSSD/sssd/issues/6704

My original problem was that the file /etc/nsswitch.conf had inconsistent info.
And that in many cases manuals (man XXX) were either not clear or nonexistent
for /etc/nsswitch.conf related options.

It seems a lot of good work has been done.
The /etc/nsswitch.conf distributed with,

        FC37,
        authselect-libs-1.4.2-1.fc37.x86_64

is quite good in terms of information that points people in the right direction.

I've not had time to delve into all the manuals but I think that the info in
/etc/nsswitch.conf does now gives sufficient pointers & info.

Sadly one day some smarter person that us will consider those comments redundant &
remove them causing future suffering, but let's hope not.

Certainly if we are to follow the Unix philosophy man pages should exist for options
in /etc/nsswitch.conf unless documented elsewhere & relatively easily found.

This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora Linux 39 development cycle.
