When viewing messages in Evolution's email component, a message will occasionally appear to be blank in the preview pane. Selecting another message and then selecting the first message makes it appear again, so it's some kind of transient thing.

How reproducible:

Actual Results: Email appears blank

Expected Results: Email should be displayed

Additional info:

This is with gtkhtml3-3.3.2-3

Comment 1 Bryan W Clark 2005-01-06 17:35:23 UTC
I've found this happens when a new message arrives and I open it before
Evolution has a chance to filter the message to a different folder. The message
might take a second to open and then appears to be blank when it finally does.
If I reopen the message after the filtering then this does not happen.

Hope this helps.

I get this regularly on messages longer than 2K or so (the threshold size seems
to change, but the longer messages fail regularly.) A quick capture shows
Evolution requesting:
    A01439 UID FETCH 26648 BODY
which shows a blank body. Clicking on another message, then back, Evolution
requests:
    A01443 UID FETCH 26648 BODY.PEEK[]
and the message displays. Clicking on a short message the first time, Evolution
requests:
    A01494 UID FETCH 26649 BODY.PEEK[]
which properly displays the message.

I am running fedora rawhide and I've found this to be true for the
last week only on the "rawhide report:" reports.

Comment 4 Dave Malcolm 2005-01-07 17:12:44 UTC
Re comment #3: I just saw the symptoms I first described when viewing today's
"Rawhide report" email; went away as before when selecting another message then
going back to the first. So the Rawhide report emails do seem to trigger it.

So is this an IMAP-specific problem? Is anyone seeing this problem on other
mail stores?

Looks like bug #138274, maybe it happens with non-multipart-mime mail too ?

Comment 7 Matthew Miller 2006-07-10 20:44:13 UTC
Fedora Core 3 is now maintained by the Fedora Legacy project for security
updates only. If this problem is a security issue, please reopen and
reassign to the Fedora Legacy product. If it is not a security issue and
hasn't been resolved in the current FC5 updates or in the FC6 test
release, reopen and change the version to match.

Thank you!

Comment 8 Mickey Hill 2007-01-19 20:55:48 UTC
This is no longer an issue. It went away a few weeks (?) after first reported.
Bug can be closed as fixed.

Comment 9 Matthew Barnes 2007-01-19 21:46:57 UTC
Thanks for responding. Closing as CURRENTRELEASE.
