Description Olimp Bockowski 2017-05-01 11:07:39 UTC
Description of problem:
During RHV-H installation when one creates bond it is by default mode 0 (round-robin) what shouldn't be supported or at least there should be some warning that modes 0, 5 and 6 support non-virtual machine (bridgeless) networks only.
Of course, it is nothing strange for Anaconda and RHEL, but for RHV-H it is crucial because on top of bond there will be created ovirt-mgmt bridge

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
everytime

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start installation
2. create bond
3. attach ethernet interfaces as slave links
4. proceed with installation

Actual results:
fails to create ovirt-mgmt bridge

Expected results:
shows warning there will be a problem further or forbid such configuration

Douglas, can you please open a bug against anaconda to let us limit this via the installclass and set it as a dependency?

Comment 3 cshao 2017-05-03 07:51:53 UTC
huzhao,

Could we reproduce this issue in QE lab ENV?
Thanks.

Can reproduce this issue.

Test version:
RHVH-4.0-20170308.0-RHVH-x86_64-dvd1.iso

Test steps:
1. Install RHVH-4.0-20170308.0-RHVH-x86_64-dvd1.iso via anaconda
2. Create bond0(default mode 0, round-robin) during installation
3. Add rhvh-4.0 to engine 3.6
4. Add rhvh-4.0 to engine 4.0

Actual results:
1. After step 2, there is no warning that modes 0 support non-virtual machine (bridgeless) networks only. Can create bond0 successful
2. After step 3, failed to add rhvh-4.0 to engine 3.6, fails to create ovirtmgmt bridge
3. After step 4, failed to add rhvh-4.0 to engine 4.0, fails to create ovirtmgmt bridge

Expected results:
1. After step 2, shows warning there will be a problem further or forbid such configuration.

Is there an open BZ we can track?

The bug 1509049 is for anaconda.

anaconda fix will be available only after 4.3 GA so pushing this out to 4.4

Comment 9 Sandro Bonazzola 2021-02-04 08:34:54 UTC
Closing cantfix as platform decided to not fix the blocking RFE.
