Description skierpage 2017-06-02 23:31:30 UTC
Description of problem:
I launched Software Center (plasma-discover) and immediately clicked (X) in the titlebar to quit it.
But nothing happened for several seconds until its window went away and Problem Reporting reported Discover quit unexpectedly.
Problem Reporting indicates one other "My" problem: 4 minutes earlier kactivitymanagerd crashed, I don't know if that's related.

Every time I click (X) to close/quit, plasma-discover crashes.

Version-Release number of selected component:
plasma-discover-5.9.5-1.fc25

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plasma-discover/+bug/1674760 "plasma-discover crashed with SIGSEGV in QQuickScrollBarAttached::qt_metacall()" seems similar, with comment 7 "plasma-discover crashes every time I try to close it". I haven't found a similar bug at bugs.kde.org.

Comment 15 skierpage 2017-06-05 05:30:10 UTC
I used mkyral's repos to upgrade to 5.10 and this still happens with discover 5.10 on KDE Frameworks 5.34.0, Qt 5.7.1 (built against 5.7.1), and the xcb windowing system. The backtrace is similar.

I notice plasma-discover displays ugly font glyphs along with some kcm settings modules (bug 1456058). I don't know if that's related.

Comment 16 Simon 2017-06-17 12:05:22 UTC
Confirmed with latest packages on F26 Beta and Plasma 5.10.1 & QT 5.7.1 & Frameworks 5.35

Discover won't even open to download a downloaded *.rpm file

Comment 17 chrisdubose 2017-06-18 17:11:43 UTC
Similar problem has been detected:

I attempted to close Discover with the Clase Program X in the top right corner.
Discover took about 1 min to close and then the "Discover quit unexpectedly" error appeared.

Comment 18 Fedora End Of Life 2017-11-16 15:15:53 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 25 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 25. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version'
of '25'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 25 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 19 Fedora End Of Life 2017-12-12 10:44:10 UTC
Fedora 25 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2017-12-12. Fedora 25 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you
are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the
current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this
bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
