How many memory is in your box? Do run backintime in a sandbox somehow (Docker, Virtualization, etc.)?
i had a duplicate of this bug, and I am running on a physical machine with 16GB. I do have low memory occasionally, due to Firefox/Chrome going nuts. I can't say for sure if that was the problem when my issue happened. *** Bug 1517390 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** This message is a reminder that Fedora 26 is nearing its end of life.
