Description Nilesh Javali 2017-06-16 11:24:22 UTC
Description of problem:
Deprecated iscsi_firmware flag is used in kernel command line after L4 iSCSI boot OS installation is successful.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
RHEL 7.4 Snapshot2

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Complete L4 iSCSI boot OS installation
2. Reboot the system and fall to kernel command line
3. Observe deprecated iscsi_firmware flag

Actual results:
Deprecated iscsi_firmware flag is used in kernel command line

Expected results:
rd.iscsi.firmware flag should be used in kernel command line

Additional info:
OS fails to boot giving message "iscsi_firmware flag is deprecated, instead use rd.iscsi.firmware flag"

Have you tried editing the command line at the bootloader?

While dracut prints a recomendation to use rd.iscsi.firmware, the older iscsi_firmware option should still be recognised and treated the same for compatibility reasons (and that's what anaconda is setting up at install)

I doubt it makes a difference

Yes. After editing the command line to use rd.iscsi.firmware, the OS boot continues.
With iscsi_firmware OS boot does not proceed and gives the deprecate warning.
