Before even anything specific had time to be accomplished in order to fix this very bug, since the application of the immediate next kernel update, it had been noticeable that the object of the bug report has worked properly. Fedora 25 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2017-12-12. Fedora 25 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this bug. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed. |
Created attachment 1288360 [details] The kernel update causes new steps in a new environment Installation fiails. Description of problem: Since a system update in which was invoked the kernel, the new installation on Qemu/KVM done with the same network installation media as used before with all precedents kernel –and which has worked fine– involve from now some new installation steps in an unusual environment (to be seen in the attachment) while before installation was displayed in the openSUSE typical graphical interface which in that case is no longer available. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 4.11.4-200.fc25 How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. Update the system ($ sudo dnf update -y). 2. Launch Qemu/KVM using virt-manager and create a virtual machine from the openSUSE-Leap-42.2-NET-x86_64.iso (network installation; 99.6 MB). 3. Launch the installation process. Actual results: The issue results from a sent DHCP request to the interface eth0. OS install now fails. Expected results: The kernel update to not affect the installation process in a negative way and leading to an installation fail. Additional info: Temporarily, in order to get the installation media work as it did before the update the system booted with an older yet available kernel (4.11.3-202.fc25) selected is now needed.
