Description Eko 2017-07-05 03:39:03 UTC
for remote libvirt mode, virt-who only support to run by ssh key, don't support by username and password,

so I suggest the script helps to create the ssh key and then upload it to the remote libvirt by auto.

And it could be even integrated with SSH keys uploaded to user. The problem I see is that the script would need to ssh to the host which would make it interactive. Maybe that could be a different script or hammer command to run. It should probably also be able to do ssh-keygen if user decides to generate a new key.

Created redmine issue http://projects.theforeman.org/issues/20261 from this bug

Or the installation could be done through REX once it supports password based authentication.

The Satellite Team is attempting to provide an accurate backlog of bugzilla requests which we feel will be resolved in the next few releases. We do not believe this bugzilla will meet that criteria, and have plans to close it out in 1 month. This is not a reflection on the validity of the request, but a reflection of the many priorities for the product. If you have any concerns about this, feel free to contact Red Hat Technical Support or your account team. If we do not hear from you, we will close this bug out. Thank you.

Password can be now specified, users can create REX job for setting up ssh key. It can download it from Capsule API since public key is exposed there.

Comment 7 Sean O'Keeffe 2020-10-21 13:46:55 UTC
The RFE triage team have evaluated this request, and while it's a valid request, we are closing this as it isn't being prioritized to fix in the next several releases.
If you have any concerns about this, please do not reopen. Instead, feel free to contact Red Hat Technical Support.
Thank you
